🕷️ Ghost Mantis Care Guide

🌡️ Temperature

•Ideal range: 75–85°F (24–29°C)

•Can tolerate slightly lower temps (down to 70°F), but growth slows.

•Avoid temps over 90°F.

💧 Humidity

•60–70% humidity is perfect.

•Light mist every 1–2 days (avoid soaking them directly).

•Provide good ventilation to prevent mold.

🏠 Enclosure

•Size: At least 3× the mantis’s body length in height, 2× in width.

A juvenile can live in a 16–32oz cup; adults do well in:

•8×8×12” enclosure

•Vertical space is very important for molting.

Substrate options

•Coco fiber

•Paper towels

•Organic soil

Decor

•Sticks, twigs, dried leaves (they love blending in)

•They enjoy a “dry woodland” aesthetic

🍽️ Feeding

Ghost mantises are micro predators with modest appetites.

Food options

•Fruit flies (D. hydei) for babies (L1–L3)

•Houseflies or blue bottle flies for juveniles

•Small crickets/roaches (never bigger than head width) for adults

Feeding schedule

•Nymphs: Every 1–2 days

•Adults: Every 2–3 days

feed crickets under supervision — they can bite.

🪳 Handling

•Generally calm but very delicate.

•Hold them by letting them walk onto your hand—never pinch or grab.

•Avoid handling right before or after molting.

🦋 Molting

Every molt requires:

•High humidity and

•Strong vertical grip (like a stick or mesh)

A failed molt is usually due to:

•Low humidity

•Smooth surfaces

•Handling too soon

🧼 Cleaning

•Spot clean weekly.

•Full clean every 3–4 weeks.

•Remove dead feeders immediately.

🌱 Lifespan

•Males: 10-12 months
